Future Nostalgia
Acrylic Paint + ENMY Markers
Daisy Y. Rangel
My work, Future Nostalgia, is a work that I based on my client’s nostalgia and childhood remembrance from her life in the 2000s. She yearns for bright color, vibrance, and something full of life. I took a Historical Artist, Henri Matisse, famous for his usage of vivid colors in his work, creating beautiful pieces during the Fauvism Movement. I was mainly inspired by his work, Goldfish, it lacks dull hues which caught my attention. I took contemporary artist, Emily Hugehs, who's skilled with color theory to add vigorous depth in her work, primarily working with cooler tones on her gouache paintings.
The piece started off with a wash of magenta to give it a beautiful cool undertone. My palette consists of monochromatic hues on the logos and icons, which makes this piece blend well and prevents visual clutter from colors. I gave sketches of each nostalgic item with a different base color from the monochromatic palette so I could easily identify what is being painted, and what beautiful element was being made.
All purchased artwork should be picked up and taken home from the reception on April 23rd 4-6pm at North Gwinnett High school in the CLC.
