My artwork, Too Fly in Feathers, was inspired by my client’s fascination with the autumn season and peacock birds. They wanted a piece that combined the autumn season’s bright, warm colors with the detailed feathers of a peacock. I drew inspiration from contemporary artist Sophie Green, who creates close up portraits of animals on dramatic black backgrounds, and Frida Kahlo’s Self-Portrait with Monkey, known for its vivid colors and tiny details used to portray animals.

To bring this idea to life, I used acrylic paint to cover the whole canvas with the bird and its feathers, leaving little empty space. The color palette consists of warm oranges, reds, and yellows, contrasted with small bits of blue in order to stand out against them, creating a warm, or even festive tone. This piece represents the vivid and astonishing fall season and majesty of nature as a whole, coating an equally striking bird.

All purchased artwork should be picked up and taken home from the reception on April 23rd 4-6pm at North Gwinnett High school in the CLC.
