7th & 8th Grade Outdoor Education

As part of our annual school fees, CCS collects $200 per student for Outdoor Education (ODE). These funds help offset the cost of the many outdoor education experiences we provide throughout the year.

As students move into 7th and 8th grade, their ODE experiences become more extensive—and significantly more expensive. Here is what these trips currently cost CCS per student:

As you can see, the $200 annual ODE fee covers only a portion of the actual cost of these experiences, particularly in 7th and 8th grade. Historically, CCS has absorbed most of these additional costs so that families could participate at little or no additional expense.

As the cost of these trips has increased, it has become difficult for the school to continue covering the full difference. Beginning this year, we are asking 7th and 8th grade families to contribute an additional amount toward these special trips. We will still collect the additional Puerto Rico money towards the end of the year.

At the same time, we remain deeply committed to ensuring that every student can participate, regardless of a family's ability to pay. If the additional trip fee presents a financial hardship for your family, please contribute what feels manageable. A family's ability to pay will never determine whether a student can participate.
