Help Feed Students and Fuel Success

GOAL: Raise $40,000 by Nov. 5, 2021

Students need food to be nourished so they can learn, grow and succeed. We invite you to join us in Packing the Pantry by making a big-hearted donation to help students and families who are experiencing challenges in our community have access to the basics they need by stocking the MarketStar Student Resource Center (MSRC).

WHO:

All Ogden School District students. Ogden School District is a Title I district, meaning the majority of students face the challenge of poverty. Any student with an identified or perceived need can access the food and/or basic needs we are fundraising for.

WHAT:

100% virtual food and supplies fundraising drive to Pack the Pantry at the MSRC. Watch our Pack the Pantry story to learn more.

The MSRC is stocked with:

Student Pantry Packs (4 ready to eat meals & 6 snacks in 1 bag sized for backpacks)
Family Meal Packs (a complete meal in a bag for a small family)
Clothing basics (underwear, socks, shoes, cold weather gear, etc.)
Hygiene products
School supplies
Household items

WHY:

1 in 7 children face hunger issues
75% of Ogden students are economically disadvantaged
Hunger affects children in multiple ways included truancy, tardiness, aggressive/bullying behavior, and anxiety and learning issues
We want students to have access to the food and supplies they need to learn, grow and succeed

HOW:

The MarketStar Student Resource Center (MSRC) was created through collaboration with the MarketStar Foundation, the Ogden School Foundation, and Ogden School District. It is available for Ogden Students in immediate need of short-term support with school supplies, food, clothing, hygiene, and household items.

MSRC staff assembles the needed items requested by school staff when a student need is identified. School staff will then ensure the student or family receives the items. In addition, the MSRC helps to serve as a gateway to identify students in need. OSD can work with the family from there to connect them to partner agencies that will empower them to become self-reliant by providing education and access to community resources for sustained, long-term support.
