Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, & Technology - Polaris Peer Leader Fundraising Campaign

Join us for the Polaris Peer Leader Fundraising Campaign, hosted by Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST)! As we work to develop this program, we currently operate without a budget, relying solely on donations and fundraisers to provide leadership, engagement, and connection for our students. Your help is essential in expanding our ability to promote a positive school culture and support our students in meaningful ways.

The Polaris Peer Leader program plays a crucial role in fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for students through several key initiatives:

  • Summer STEM Week Orientation: A vital experience for rising freshmen, helping them build connections, establish a sense of belonging, and become familiar with the school’s culture of inclusion and acceptance.

  • Polaris GUIDE Program: This initiative pairs students facing emotional, social, or academic challenges with a dedicated peer mentor. Personalized mentorship and guidance are essential for students who need extra support as they navigate the pressures of high school.

  • Covalence! Lunch and Learn Program: These small group sessions allow students to connect, discuss, and explore solutions to social, emotional, and academic concerns. Led by peer leaders, these groups foster a sense of community, providing students with a safe space to share and grow.

We have a pressing need to enhance our program in several areas. Specifically, we aim to:

  1. Improve program training for our peer leadership team to better equip them for their roles.

  2. Secure materials and supplies necessary for leading effective group activities and small group counseling sessions.

  3. Develop five small group meeting spaces within our Covalence! Connection and Collaboration zone to facilitate meaningful peer-led activities and discussions.

These peer-led initiatives are vital in promoting a positive school culture—one that addresses growing concerns in high schools around the nation around mental health, bullying, and school violence that are so prevalent in today’s high schools. The Polaris Peer Leader program is dedicated to creating a safe and compassionate environment where all students feel supported and empowered.

To continue and expand these important efforts, we urgently need your help. Any contribution, large or small, will directly impact the success of our program and help us achieve these goals. Your generosity will enable us to develop the resources and spaces necessary to make a difference in our school community.

This donation-based fundraiser aims to support the growth and development of our Polaris Peer Leaders, who work tirelessly to enhance the academic, emotional, and social well-being of our students. Your generous donations will help create a positive school environment and culture for all. Together, let's empower our youth and foster a supportive community for everyone. Thank you for your support!
