How do I run a walk-a-thon or read-a-thon with pledges?

Use a Pledge product. Supporters pledge an amount for each lap, book, mile, or other unit, up to a maximum they choose. They save their card when they pledge, but no one is charged until after the event.

Set it up

  1. Open your campaign, go to the Store tab, click New, and choose Pledge / A-Thon.
  2. Pick what supporters are pledging for (laps, books, miles, or your own) and the average number per participant.
  3. Choose how supporters pick a participant: from your leaderboard, or by name, team, grade, or teacher.
  4. Click Save.

After the event

  1. Go to Results > Pledges.
  2. Click a participant, enter how many units they completed, and click Finalize.

SuccessFund charges each pledge, up to the supporter’s maximum. For example, a $5-per-lap pledge with a $50 maximum is charged $40 for 8 laps, or $50 for 20 laps.

If a card fails, the supporter gets an email with a link to pay. Supporters can cancel their pledge any time before you finalize.
